In 2016 we partnered with the Preservation Trust and Bradford on Avon Museum to return the Iron Duke to Bradford on Avon.

The Avon Works was launched to record this journey and to showcase material related to the Avon Rubber Factory and the industrial heritage of Bradford on Avon. Its primary purpose is to honour and preserve the life stories of the Avon workers and their families, and to promote this industrial heritage through and with today's community, especially it's young people.

We are now working to establish The Avon Works as an independent organisation to continue this work and to further promote the working lives of young people today.

Iron Duke Festival

19 & 20 September 2026

September 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the return of the Iron Duke.

This occasion provides a unique opportunity to highlight the industrial heritage of the town, to honour its workforce and to inform and enthuse those who have come to live and work in the town since the factory's closure thirty years ago.
